€10m in annual savings identified in 10 weeks

The Challenge
eunetworks operates a complex European digital infrastructure business with significant third-party expenditure across network infrastructure, data centres, fibre, equipment, field services and corporate services.
The business already had an established procurement function and multiple commercial initiatives underway.
Facing margin pressure, it wanted an independent view of the bigger question: How much more value was available across the cost base?
SWAN was engaged by the CFO & COO to find out.

Our Asssessment
SWAN conducted an independent assessment of the procurement function and third-party cost base.
We challenged existing procurement priorities, analysed Opex and Capex expenditure and reviewed contracts, demand, supplier structures and commercial arrangements to identify where further value could be captured.
The assessment was deliberately broader than looking for better prices. It examined where activity should be stopped, deferred or prioritised and where procurement resources could generate the greatest commercial return. This reflects the original scope, which covered procurement activity, contracts, processes and suppliers before moving into detailed cost and demand opportunities

The Outcome
SWAN identified €10m in potential savings opportunities. The final report provided eunetworks with a prioritised roadmap of opportunities across its third-party cost base, including network infrastructure, data centres, equipment and wider corporate expenditure.
The assessment established:
-
€10m in potential savings opportunities
-
A prioritised pipeline of cost optimisation initiatives
-
Short, medium and long-term opportunities
-
Areas requiring deeper commercial challenge and supplier negotiation
-
Recommendations to strengthen procurement effectiveness and governance
-
A clear roadmap for moving from identified opportunity to realised savings
The opportunity is now identified. The next step is capturing it.
